Envirocare cleans up at Leeds Festival

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Unlike those attending its sister festival in Reading, this year’s Leeds festival goers enjoyed a weekend of sunshine at the annual live music event.  Thousands packed into the venue at Braham Park and were entertained for three days by an impressive lineup of bands and solo artists both old and new.  But who cleans up after the revelers?  Envirocare Maintenance Solutions came up trumps when they bid for the massive tidy up on the August Bank Holiday weekend.  Dave, Envirocare MD said “the cleanup is quite a feat.  The equipment arrives on site the day before and cleaning is carried out from midnight each night.  Festival goers are guaranteed a litter free start to the day.”  Brian, one Envirocare employee decided to make the most of his free entry to the festival.  Brian reported back “it was a fantastic weekend; I worked all night, rested during the day and danced with the best of them until it was time to get back on my tractor.”  Brian took a couple of photos of his tractor parked up by the Main and Alternative stages, looks like he did an excellent job!

Phil and Rebecca rise to the challenge

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

During September 2009 Phil Harrington, Envirocare Director and his step daughter Rebecca Halsall completed the grueling 510 miles Tower 2 Tower challenge supporting Rock FM’s Cash for Kids charity.  Rebecca, who works as part of the Envirocare sales team during her summer vacation from university, accompanied Phil and around 40 other cyclists to the Eifel Tower to begin the six day return journey to Blackpool.  “It was hard going” said Rebecca, “but worth it.  There was a great atmosphere amongst the cyclists but we were all relieved it was over by the time we reached Blackpool.”  The event raised around £56,000 for the Cash for Kids charity, Phil and Rebecca managed an impressive £3000 between them.  Rebecca added “we’ve just completed the Manchester to Blackpool charity bike ride, needless to say it was a doddle compared to the Tower 2 Tower challenge!”

Envirocare at the heart of the Community

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Envirocare have the responsibility of caring for and maintaining the landscape of one of Lancashire’s premier housing and business developments but Envirocare are also involved in a very different way, at the very heart of this new community.  2009 saw the opening of a brand new, all weather sports pitch providing local residents with a modern, well equipped facility.  With changing rooms and flood lights, the centre is in full use all year round.  Dave, Envirocare MD said “we are pleased to be part of the community.  The Envirocare team does an excellent job of managing this facility.  Bookings are taken at our head office; we have a great relationship with our regular clients.  The centre is manned seven days a week by Envirocare staff supporting users both old and new.”  Teams have flocked to use the pitch and current users include girl’s junior football, the local youth club, gent’s hockey, American football and numerous formal and informal football teams.  Dave added “interest in the astropitch has been tremendous, every week we have brand new enquiries.”

The community has also recently benefited from the opening of a new Community Centre.  The centre is also managed by Envirocare and since it opened in July 2010, the facility has hosted children’s parties, dance classes, youth clubs, church services, car boot sales along with community PACT meetings.  Dave said “the centre provides an excellent meeting place and venue for clubs, classes and parties.  It is well equipped and spacious and just like the sports facility, is becoming increasingly well used.”

If you require further information on either facility, contact the dedicated booking line at Envirocare on 01772 623969.

Scrap Metal Collection Raises Cash for Charity

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

The initiative of one Envirocare employee has resulted in extra cash for local charities.  John Merton a retail park caretaker identified the opportunity whilst disposing of scrap metal at the site he manages in the North West.  John said “Scrap metal accumulates regularly on the site, it makes sense to get what we can for it.  We’ve been collecting scrap for over 12 months now, last year we raised £250 which was donated to Clare House Children’s Hospice, the local Fire Service  and two small local charities, the most recent donation of £400 was to the Air Ambulance.  We donate using Gift Aid which adds a further 28p for each pound donated.  The stores on the site are very supportive of our scheme, as is Gareth from the Property Management Company.  We also have a Brandy bottle for pennies we collect from contractors visiting the site, usually bits of change from their lunchtime bacon butties!”  John and his colleague David Williams are now raising funds for a local charity supporting adults with learning disabilities, the grand total to date stands at £250 – keep up the good work lads!
