Envirocare Stratford helps in the community

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Stratford Town Trust in conjunction with the Woodland Trust  needed as much help and volunteers as they could possibly get to assist with the planting of Jubilee Wood.

This is one of many around the country to celebrate the Queens’ Diamond Jubilee.

The Stratford Town Trust organised a volunteer day and Envirocare Stratford did not let their community down.

The Envirocare Stratford team jumped at the chance to help in any way that they could.

The Woodland Trust provided 700 ‘royal saplings’, which had been grown from seed on one of the royal estates, along with canes and rabbit guards.  The whole community did not let the Town Trust down - more than 30 local people, including Envirocare, children and staff from the local Scout Group and children, parents & teachers from several local schools got together, to make sure everything got planted.

What will be Jubilee Wood

The day got off to a start with Mark Stevens and his team from Envirocare Stratford, giving a talk and demonstration to all of the volunteers on how to pit plant and slit plant the trees depending on the root size and how to put in canes and fit the rabbit guards.  With everyone working hard, there were over 500 trees, canes and guards completed on the day with Envirocare planting the remaining 200 a day later.

The Oak, ash, silver birch, wild cherry, hazel and field maple trees that were planted will help to help create a habitat for wildlife, ensuring this is a wonderful, tranquil space that the local residents and visitors can enjoy for many years to come long after the Queens Jubilee Celebrations.

New Years clean up…

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

In 2012 we have already been hard at it - with the upkeep of our sites’ general maintenance.

One of the services we offer as part of Envirocare Maintenance Solutions is to keep our sites’ bin store areas clean and fully accessible.

Recently we have had to clear away all sorts of things.  It truly is amazing the things people thow away in the strangest of places!

Another of our services is Gutter Clearance.  Ensuring Gutters are clear of leaves, moss, debris and running freely.

Do you have a pretty view of 2012?

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

Hope everyone has had a wonderful break and is back fully charged to take 2012 by storm!

There truly is no rest for the wicked here at Envirocare…our different teams have never stopped in these holidays!

As well as usual duties, they have been busy gritting roads and our sites around the Country, replacing and clearing fallen trees and fences from the high winds we have been having, cleaning bin stores, clearing gutters and if that was not enough…they have been busy enhancing, what will be the views for thousands of people all over the UK, by planting over 65,000 bulbs ready for Spring!

Phew!  What’s next…?

Introducing Robo Flail the remote controlled mower!

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011
Our lads had to form orderly queue’s over the last few weeks as they all want to try out the ultimate man toy…the Robo Flail.

We are trying out the Robo Flail, a remote controlled mower that is designed to go up bankings on its own.  Exactly how it says it will – by remote control!
We hope that it will be a solution to some of our more difficult sites  that have those hard to reach places.  Such areas as these can sometimes pose problems for our teams as they try to keep within the health and safely guidelines.
The Robo Flail does just that!  It is not even put off by marsh land and will just keep on going straight through mud and water, along with mowing in very wet weather conditions.
It is early days in our trial of this wonderful concept, hopefully it will do just as good a job as our lads’ would do.  Yes, we have high hopes for the Robo Flail and it will never be short of volunteers to control it!
