On Saturday 28th September the 3rd annual Manchester to Blackpool bike ride took place starting at Barton Square Trafford Centre and ending under the tower on Blackpool prom. The 52 mile ride was organized by the British Heart Foundation in aid of the Mending Broken Hearts appeal and amongst the 1000+ riders was Envirocare Grounds Maintenance’s Director – Phil Harrington and Health & Safety Co-ordinator – Angie Grime. Phil and Angie rode as part of the Restart Lancashire team.
Angie tells us ‘It was a perfect night for the ride’ she continues ‘there was a lot of anticipation as everyone set off from the Trafford Centre, the whole event was really well organized and the highlight was reaching the prom and illuminations still being on’.
Phil, who finished the ride in a very respectable four hours, was also really positive about the ride, he advises ‘We had one stop along the route at Blackrod and after that decided to go with the flow and ride right to the finish line – it was a great atmosphere.’
