Impressing the adjudicators was no mean feat. The panel of judges was made up 24 highly respected individuals from industry, education, construction, public services and health and safety professional bodies. Submissions were made during February and the awards ceremony was held in May at the Hilton Metropole, this was followed by a presentation ceremony for the sector winners and a gala dinner. The awards also coincided with the three day Health and Safety Expo staged at the Birmingham NEC arena.
It is also good to know that Envirocare Grounds Maintenance are in good company with our achievements, others to retain their RoSPA Gold Award are BAE Systems, Balfour Beatty Construction, npower Energy Services, Rolls Royce and the RAF to name but a few.
Our Grounds Maintenance Health and Safety Coordinator, Angie Grime, told us “the RoSPA questionnaire gets to the real heart of a company’s commitment to Health and Safety. In addition to detailed responses to questions such as ‘How do your directors and senior managers lead health and safety in your organisation, including identifying priorities, setting key performance indicators and targets, monitoring progress and providing clear and effective leadership at all levels?’ and ‘How does your organisation ensure that all its employees and contractors are competent to fulfil their roles in occupational health and safety’, the RoSPA adjudicators require numerous examples and evidences to support the submission.”
