After what has seemed like a very long January, the days are finally getting longer, new growth is appearing in our gardens and daffodils are brightening up our windowsills, signalling spring is just around the corner and the team here at Envirocare couldn’t be more ready for the season ahead! So, what have we been up to during the cold weather? You may think winter is a quiet time for a grounds maintenance business, however our industrious team have been hard at work.
Winter maintenance
While there are no lawns to be cut or grass to treat, the need for professional maintenance doesn’t let up in the winter. The jet washers have been busy clearing paving and pathways of moss and algae buildup, an essential task to improve not only the aesthetics of communal areas but also the safety, preventing potentially dangerous slips and falls. Speaking of slippy concrete, the gritters have been keeping car parks and walkways safe from ice during these colder months.
Preparing for Spring
Trees, hedges, and bulbs have been carefully planted so keep your eyes peeled for little green shoots! Aside from the outdoor jobs the team have also been renewing all important aspects of training essential for the job, including first aid training and courses for weed spraying. And what are our workers without their trusty equipment, so to ensure the machinery is in tip top shape ahead of the grass cutting season, they have been treated to a service and all lined up raring to go. After a few months of hibernating they are ready to be let loose on all manner of grassy areas for the first grass cut of March.
